The origins and the history of the “Light Music” company |
The founder of the company Ilya Bortnuk has been working within musical business from the 1989, having a shot at being music critic, art-director of a club, tv- and radio host, artists’ manager, producer and director of a record-company. After having reached a certain success in these fields, Ilya decided to concentrate on live performances and founded the promotion company “Light Music”. According to the legend, the company got its name after the phrase of Oleg Gitarkin (Messer fur Frau Muller): “Light music for a rainy day” crossed one’s mind.
The history of the company began to unfold in 2000 with the band "Leningrad" and "Vopli Vidoplyasova" gigs. The name “Light Music” first rang out.
In 2001 the “Light Music” indulged citizens of St. Petersburg by several quick off the mark shining events: magnificent Italians "Montefiori Cocktail" performed at Nabokov Museum, brittle Japaneses "Hito&Hanayo" – at the University Center, lord of decadence Marc Almond – in Music Hall, Yasuharu Konishi from Pizzicato Five – within the Sushi Disco party in Youth Theatre etc.
The next years were even more fruitful: Morrissey, Franz Ferdinant, the White Stripes, Brian Eno, David Byrne, PJ Harvey, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, Kraftwerk,Royksopp, Asian Dub Foundation, De Phazz, Peaches, Stereototal, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Yonderboi, Lali Puna, Mansfield, Kid Loco, Llorca, Solex and other famous musicians visited St. Petersburg and introduced to the great pleasure to those who starved for performances of the iconic western artists.
Each year of success has been turning out to be more and more replete with outstanding musical events.
